We were carefully shielded from any direct information of what was going on at Hogwarts during Severus Snape’s year as Headmaster. Such gaps tend to prove irresistible to authors of fanfic. This particular story has been adopted as ‘chosen headcanon’ by more than one of the other authors which are represented in this collection.
