Christmas Card 2015

This one was done for the Hoggy-Warty Xmas Fest of 2015.

It’s winter. It’s Christmas. Hagrid has friendly calls to make in the forest.

Well, who would be more appropriate to usher in the holidays than the fellow whose birthday is St. Nicholas Day?

Just to make things interesting; there are one dozen different kinds of creatures depicted in this image. Half of them are natural creatures, half magical. And no, two deer do not count as two kinds of creature.

And I’m not counting one half-Giant, either. (I am counting the Centaur. Centaurs insist on being classified as Creatures rather than Beings.)

There was originally also a flock of rock doves, but they ended up being covered up by the Christmas message.

Afraid this image is a bit oversized. Which is somewhat awkward, but I figured that it was better to clip the border than try to reduce it further. It’s hard enough to see everything as it is.

During the reveal, one of the reviewers said that she wished she could blow up one of my illustrations and print it as a poster. Once I considered that, it seemed doable within reason. Most of my illos start out at 300ppi which is too big to post as an image on the internet, but large enough to export at a printable resolution in something like poster size.

So went back and I did exports of the two illos I built for this year's Hoggy-Warty Xmas Fest, as well as the staff room illo that I did for the Minerva fest a couple of months ago. I've sized them to fit on an Architechural C sheet. You're welcome to download and take it to Kinko’s or some other service bureau to get it printed. You'll need an unziping utility. They’re all compressed files, even if they don't compress very much. They're all .jpg, too, so most software ought to be able to handle them. I left a bit of a margin and you may have to trim some excess.
